Here is a view down the stairs into the living room. I did not realize the fireplace would be visable from the upstairs.. nice.

Here is the old void space that was converted into storage area. Much better now don't you think..?

Upstairs bedrooms...

Family room - note the four red sprinkler heads on the ceiling. Sweet

May 31 - The exterior is all prepared for paint. I think they were supposed to paint today but the wind was quite strong with lots of blowing dust.

May 31 - Drywall is up throughout the house, but the corners and finishing still need to be completed. The drywall should be finished within a couple days. Also, the exterior is being prep'd for painting. I did not bring a camera with me so I do not have any new pics to upload - but I will tonight!

May 27

After a quick visit on Thursday, I was happy to see drywall on the walls in the family room, powder room, and laundry room. By the time I get up to the house after work, the contractors are usually gone by then, but Thursday near 5pm they were still working hard. I imagine the rest of the house should be drywalled by the weekend. I do not expect to get up to the house before the start of the weekend.
Also, Jamie (Lorre's assistant) called me this morning to inquire about pushing the closing date out by five days. Instead of June 30, we will now be looking at July 5. Fortunately I have my apartment until July 15.
Have a great weekend and stay cool.

Finally, a shot into the family room. This house is going to be really quiet inside - you can tell already. I expect the drywall to be completed in the next few days. Later!

It is hard to tell, but the master bath closet has been removed (as expected). Looking much better now.

This picture is nothing really exciting but I took few pictures from this spot as the house was built.

Insulation!!

May 25 - Stacie, Erica and I went up to the house this afternoon and was surprised to see some exciting improvements. For one thing, the siding is up and the house really is loking good now. The sight of plywood was getting old.

May 24 - Well, I am out of town today and tomorrow so I will not be posting anything (except this) until I return home. As soon as I return home, I expect to visit the house to check up on things.

Sunday, May 22, 2005

Next week will be an exciting one as the interior should be coming together. It probably will not be long before the cabinetry is completed in the kitchen and bathrooms. Also, I expect the exterior siding to be installed son as well. Thanks for visiting!

Erica dazzled us all with this daring leap over a pile of wood, nails, and glass. Amazingly, she survived without a scratch.

This is part of the sprinkler system. I had no idea the sprinkler system was this complete. Nearly every room in the house has a sprinkler head... and the family room has 4!

May 22 - Today Stacie, Erica, Bob, Dorothy and myself all visited the house after lunch. Not much has changed since Friday, but someone had been there doing some work - I am not sure what.

Saturday, May 21, 2005

Saturday, May 21 - I had a very brief opportunity to visit the house on Friday and ran inside for only a few seconds - and the results looked positive. The powder room/laundry room issue looks to be resolved as the plumbing and electrical layout is correct now. Also, the plumbing and electric in the kitchen looks complete. I think the kitchen is now ready for the cabinetry.

Stacie, Erica and I plan on going to the races tonight (www.wvso.com) and will stop by to check things out. I will post any updates here... Have a great weekend!

This is my final pic of the day. More tomorrow!

From the rear..

Ok, we have encountered a new problem. In this picture, you can see where the master bath sink is to be, but today they framed in a linen closet! I am not sure why this has happened but will get to the bottom of it tomorrow. Ugh.

May 18 - The windows are finally in!

And the new furnace.... :)

Finally, this picture is the stair lights being installed. There will be only two floor lights (I think) for the stairwell, but there will be lights above looking down. More later!

On the other side of the wall is the kitchen area. The lights were added this week. There is two above the eating area on the left, and five in the kitchen. Hopefully, that will be enough.

Here is the front entry and the new door. As you can see, they blocked off that void behind the door to allow storage in the garage. Also, check out the recessed light above. Sweet.

Things are still happening up at the house - slowly but surely. After a
brief visit this afternoon, I was pleased to see the front door
installed and the windows delivered. Hopefully tomorrow they will be
installed!

I uploaded some pics I took on the 6th that show the wrong plumbing in
the two rooms. The first picture is supposed to be the laundry room, but
I see a toilet hole on the floor. The second picture is supposed to be
the bathroom, and there is a W/D hookup. Oh boy... Am I crazy????

Enjoy

May 12

Well, things got pretty crazy these past couple days as some issues came up with the kitchen cabinetry and electric system. Although things got a little stressful for me, I am glad to be at this phase of the project. This should conclude any areas which I planned to upgrade and from here I hope to just sit and watch it all come together. But then another little, recurring problem surfaced: the plumber got confused (or did not have the current plans) and accidentally plumbed the powder room as the laundry room, and the laundry room as the powder room. Thanks to my wonderful agent Karie Rolen, this problem is being resolved.

I WILL take some pictures tomorrow and will post here. The exterior of the house has not changed much this past week and the pictures of the wiring and piping is nothing too exciting – or worth posting. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some good pictures. Until then…

May 11 - There has been some minor additions to the house this week, inlcuding the installation of the showers, fireplaces and HVAC system. I still plan to meet with the plumber and electrician this week to hammer out some details on the kitchen and interior lighting.

May 8

I have not been up to the house today, but I did go up last night with Stacie and Erica. I did take a few more pictures of the interior and exterior but will not have them posted until tomorrow. My laptop and camera batteries have died and I left my chargers at my office.
I plan to meet with the cabinet guy tomorrow to help map out where the kitchen cabinets will go.
More tomorrow!!

As you can see, the showers have been installed...

The roof has been shingled and the plummers have completed their work - for now.

May 5

I ran up to the house today to check on things but forgot the camera. :(
the plumbers have made their way around and have piping everywhere. The two showers are sitting outside in the driveway, ready to be installed. In the areas where they are to go, they have already gone through and insulated to allow installation.
Also, the right side of the house (over kitchen and livingroom) has been shingled. I am glad I went with the midnight black colore shingles - they look good dark.
Tomorrow I plan to meet with the cabinet guy to determine what we are going to do in the kitchen.. there might have been a slight change of plan. I will find out tomorrow.
Good evening!

Wednesday, May 04, 2005

Not much happened today... I met with the builder and discussed some options with the deck and some closet space. Plummers will be next, the HVAC, then roofers and the electricians. More later..

Today they finished up around the fireplaces and things are really starting to come together.

Today the interior was cleaned of all of the wood, nails, and other building junk. The space has opened up even more. As you can see, the roofing has arrived and I am sure they will begin work tomorrow hopefully.

May 3 - I will try to get up to the house later this afternoon to see
what's next. After speaking to the contractor yesterday, he confirmed
that the framing is complete and the plumbers are due next. Whoohoo!

This picture was taken on May 1st, Sunday, and I bet the framing is nearly 98% complete. There is a couple more spots that need some plywood, but other than that this phase may be complete.
Yesterday, we walked through the house to determine exactly where the additional electrical work needs to be done (additional fixtures, junctions, and recessed lighting). I hope to meet with the electrician in the next couple days to determine feasibility and cost.
