Our parents - L to R; Tom, Linda, Bob and Dorothy

Well, it has been a busy week and it will continue to be this next week as well. My folks left last night on the train while Stacie's folks arrived yesterday morning. Like I said in an earlier post, I have taken some videos but I just havent uploaded them yet. I will...

While my folks were here, we were able to install the woodstove in the cabin so it is operative. Also, we installed a front door. Now the cabin can hold its heat much better. I couldn't have done it without the help of my Dad and Donovan. Thank you!

I spoke to our pal Rick and he was able to get out the hospital and return home before Xmas. His family from the westside (of WA) came over and spent Xmas with them in Wenatchee. So now he is home resting and recovering. Thats good news!

I will update again this weekend - with video!
Thanks,
Eric

Saturday

My folks are on the train to Montana and should be arriving any time now. The train was due at 0730 morning but is now delayed until 1000. Then its partyime...

I received word that Rick was not feeling well and is currently at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. We are not sure what's wrong just yet, but I did received a voicemail from him last night. He sounded positive but stated that he will likely be spending Xmas at the hosptial. Hang in there Rick - we are all praying for you!

December 17

Good morning! I am not sure what my problem was but I forgot my camera again both Saturday and Sunday. So, I guess youre stuck with a narrative review of the weekend's progress. Sorry...
Saturday was beautiful and chilly, but not bad enough to stop progress. My goal was to install the woodstove ceiling support box but I ended up having some problems with the single-wall pipe. Also, I didnt want to cut a hole in my roof before I purchased the (expensive) double-walled piping and cap. So, I built the mantle and determined where the slate would be placed. I screwed around on some other stuff too..
On Sunday I mudded the slate tile so now it sits. In the cold weather I expect it to take 24+ hours to set. Once that was completed I finished up the final, much-delayed gable end. Now all I need is a door!

I am not sure what the plan will be the next couple weeks because of our holiday plans. My folks are coming to town on Saturday for nearly a week, then Stacie's folks come for a few days too! Unless Tom and Bob feel like climbing on an icy roof, progress will not likely occur until the new year.

Until then, Merry Christmas!

Flipping player

Red Wings goalie Hasek meets Minnesota forward Marian Gaborik on a break-away and flips him head-over-heels. Amazing!!! Definately worth a look.. Enjoy!

Saturday

I wrestled the new wood stove into the cabin and am in the process of finding the best place for it to be installed. I also got the windows in! Of course I forgot my camera but will be out again tomorrow for a little bit and will post a new vid.
Thanks for visiting!

This weekend

I am ready for the weekend and I hope to get some things done at the cabin. The weather will be cold but clear so I am excited. I am going to run out tonight to help revive Allison's computer and if I have time I will install the two 1'x3' windows... and prepare for tomorrow'e early start.
I also received a email from a YouTube viewer who apparently has been checking out the cabin's progress. He wrote:
This is better than HGTV. Keep them coming!! I'm planning to do the same thing in New Mexico this spring and your story is giving me inspiration.
Ken

How cool...
See ya! E

Saturday 12-1-07

Not much of a video but it Saturday's partial work.

December

I went out to the cabin on Saturday for a bit but I was mainly there to get an Xmas tree. We had some cold, blowing snow in the area so I just went for a quad ride for a while. Allison and the kids came over and helped us decorate the tree.
Today we will be doing some much needed house cleaning while watching football. Perfect!
