Saturday

My folks left and returned back to Washington this morning. We had a great birthday dinner last night for Mom and Stacie. We also wanted to send a get-well-soon to Rick in Wenatchee after a prompt visit to the hospital. He is currently home resting and awaiting for future testing. Rest up Rick! Take it easy and stay healthy! We are all thinking about you and hope your recovery is fast.
Today, Stacie and I are going to go to The Event at Rebecca Farm, then to the cabin for some fun - and a little work. Stacie wants to get the decking and stairs on the deck, so we have some work ahead of us. This afternoon we are quading to Lost Prairie for the big skydive meet. Funtimes!

Cabin Update!

HD Video

This weekend kept us busy.. later Saturday morning after I finished the floors, Stacie and I went and loaded up 50+ bales of hay - then came home and went quad'ing to Ashley Lake. The spent a cool evening by the fire with the horses. Today we slept in then went to town for lunch and things. We also visited our neighbor/friends in Marion, Jack and Shea, and to check out their SIP (Structural Insulated Panel) system house. We have been planning on building our house with SIPS but I think I changed my mind. After visiting with Jack and Shea, I think it may not be worth the extra cost because of labor and budget challenges. So back to the drawing board..? The good news is that we will not be forced to find a (rare) SIP contractor now... and we will save money.
More later!

Our Cousin Terri

A few weeks ago my sister Allison and I (and the kids) took a trip to Washington to see our cousin Terri who was battling non-small cell, non-smokers lung cancer. On July 4th Terri passed away after a long, 5+ year courageous battle. Unfortunately, Allison and I (and our families) could not attend her funeral on Thursday. Terri is now comfortable and will always be with her family. It is difficult being away from the family during this difficult time but Allison and I are so happy we got to spend some time with Terri before she left us. We love you Terri!!

Moose in East Wenatchee

East Wenatchee has had some frequent moose sightings right in town and today's Wenatchee World shows this image of moose at the mall. What a world...

While I wait for the builder to give me a proposal to build the house, I am going to add the cabin bathroom bumpout. It will be 8' x 8' and will soon be a full bath - once power, water, and septic are in. For now, I am going to get it all framed up, roofed, and ready for siding. I am going to use some of the lumber from the running shed we lost last week. I need to be out there working while the weather is nice..!
Talk to you later!

Hi Erica!

A Wild Night

Stacie came home from work this morning and said "Did you have a wild night last night?" When I replied no, responded "Well, I noticed one of my Pepsi is gone and there are keys scattered everywhere (on the counter)". You know me - leave me with a pepsi and a pile of keys and I things will surely turn wild.

Yesterday I went to the cabin to lay a second layer of floor boards (sub-floor). I didnt get out there until nearly noon so I got a late start. All went well and I wrapped it up at 5:30pm. Today I am going back to Marion to meet with a local builder to go over our plans. Yeah!
